We are pleased to report the new hardware has been installed and our data has been successfully migrated to the new web server without issue. This work was completed by our administrators in very short order as Illinois Photo and our sister sites came back online before midnight on Sunday evening! Hats off to the IP administrators over at the datacenter for getting us back up in just a few short hours! Bravo!

Finally it's happening! IllinoisPhoto.com and our sister sites are getting a major hardware upgrade! While we hate being offline for any amount of time we are very pleased to report that we have negotiated a deal with our longtime webhost on a brand spanking new web server that we will be migrating to starting this Sunday evening at 5:00 PM CST. This means that Illinois Photo, Katrina Destruction, Rock River Football and many of our other great photo sites will be offline the entire night on October 2nd, 2011 and possibly part of the day on Monday as well. Our technicians hope to have the hardware installed and the data migrated by Monday morning so we will keep our fingers crossed.

Illinois Photo has not undergone a hardware upgrade for a half-decade so everyone that visits Illinois Photo and our other sites will notice a big increase in the performance of our websites, especially during peak hours. This new web server allows us to serve images at lightning speeds and expand our collections bigtime! Due to the migration all file download orders not delivered prior to Sunday evening will be delivered once we come back online on the new box.

I won't bore you with technical details of the new hardware - but I will say this new server configuration is many times more powerful than our current web server, and we are very, very excited to be getting this upgrade! Once we come back online you can expect to see a ton of new content and some subtle site makeovers on our most popular sites...the winter months will not slow us down here as we literally have thousands upon thousands of compelling new photos to add to the galleries!

We are very proud to have served you for most of this the past decade and we certainly do look forward to serving YOU this next decade as well! Thanks for your patience, understanding, and continued support.

Red Zebra - African Cichlid - Lake Malawi

Educational and other publishers in need of excellent cichlid photos are in luck as we have on file 1000's of cichlid photos here at Illinois Photo as I have  been breeding, photographing, and documenting African Cichlid activity for a decade! The African cichlid from Lake Malawi known as the Red Zebra is a colorful, hearty fish that won't set you back as many dollars as a Peacock or another fancy cichlid - but can provide many hours and even years of enjoyment just the same in your home aquarium. Check the teeth out on this little guy here...he's only about one inch long from the tip of the lips to the end of the tail but perfectly viable in almost all ways! Even though Illinois is a very long way from Africa - African Cichlid keeping is a great hobby that is can be rewarding in many ways. Sully Erna and Godsmack in Bloomington, Illinois on August 24th, 2011.

If you ever get to see Sully Erna's Godsmack ---> do not miss the opportunity ---> as these veteran rockers are the definition of consummate professionals. I was fortunate enough to see this veteran band twice in Illinois this year - once in Tinley Park at the Ampetheatre and the second time at the US Cellular in Bloomington. Two very different venues but for sure Godsmack delivered the goods to both the masses at Tinley and to the crowd filling only one end the Bloomington Xtreme's home football arena. It was a bit surprising to see smallish crowd on hand in the college town -  but it mattered not to Sully and his guys as they delivered a dynamite, hard charging, no frills, no bells-and-whistles show that delighted the crowd from the opening song all the way through the encore. The Bloomington show had the same intensity that Godsmack had delivered earlier in the year at Tinley Park before tens of thousands of rock and roll fans! Rock and Roll fans that are lucky enough see Godsmack this year are treated to excellent double drum solo in which Sully and Shannon Larkin pound out some seriously  killer simul-batttle stuff. It's certainly intense and for me the drum solo alone was worth the price of admission. Well done Godsmack!

The Stone Temple Pilots are pictured closing Rockford's annual On the Waterfront music festival September 4th, 2011. The On the Waterfront Music Festival is Illinois' largest street festival. On this almost perfect closing night the Great Lawn Stage area behind the Amerock building in downtown Rockford was packed with peeps liked a can of sardines - as thousands of rock and roll fans lined the Rock River bank of Davis Park for the famous national act.
